David Zampech brings over 34 years of extensive retail experience to Benchmark. With a background rooted in the family farm in the Lockyer Valley, he embarked on his retail career at the age of 16, leaving behind the family business.

Beginning in 1989, David's journey commenced at Woolworths, where he spent a remarkable 17 years undertaking diverse roles ranging from trolley collector to store manager. His tenure encompassed various positions in between, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the retail industry. In 2006, David temporarily stepped away from the retail sphere to work as a sales representative for multiple companies. However, his connection to the retail world persisted through his wife's employment at a SUPA IGA store in the Lockyer Valley.

Driven by an unwavering passion for the retail sector, David immersed himself fully in 2012, assuming the role of New Business Manager for Foodworks. Recognizing the need for improvement within independent retailers, he established his own consultancy/management company in 2015, collaborating with these retailers to enhance their outcomes.

In addition to his consultancy work, David ventured into independent business ownership. In 2015, he and his family launched their own Foodworks store near Toowoomba, and in 2018, they expanded their enterprise further by acquiring a butcher shop that supplies retail-ready packs to several independent retailers in south-east Queensland.

David's profound knowledge of supermarkets is surpassed only by his relentless drive for success.
